About us...

Welcome to JJ’s Sports Bar & Grill(the former Bob Evans)! Locally and family owned, although we have experience, this is a new venture for us that we are excited to provide for you! We currently have several thriving Mexican restaurants in Illinois including one here in Mt. Vernon - El Rancherito that has been open for over 28 years! Our name, JJ’s is us - the Jacinto family! Our family is huge but two J’s was plenty. Family is #1 to us which is what we offer - a nice, relaxed and fun, family friendly restaurant with a different but delicious menu consisting of brunch and a mix of other fresh foods including hand cut steak and fries. Our full bar consists of 16 different draft beers, build your own bloody marys and so much more! Feel free to try your luck on our slots or kick back and watch your favorite team win. Great place with very good food and friendly staff. Shrimp tacos were delicious! Shrimp sandwich (po boy) was also so good. We had tortilla chips with salsa and queso and it all tasted amazing. Probably the best tortilla chips I’ve had in a while. Drinks were very good as well. Definitely recommend this place. Vegetarian options: Each burger had a veggie patty substitute, plus most of the appetizers were vegetarian.

This was our first visit to JJ’s. I’m always a little nervous when trying a new restaurant as you never know what you’re getting into. We were greeted and seated within a minute of arrival by Heather who was also our server. She took great care of us. We ordered the New York Strip with shrimp and roasted potatoes and eggs with seasoned potatoes and fresh fruit. The steak was cooked just right and everything tasted so good. Parking: Wheelchair accessible parking is available.
